New Tat

July 10, 2008

When I'm on vacation in the US next month I'm getting a new tattoo. Help me decide where to put it?

Okay, so here's the scoop. I have six tattoos now.

Flower and butterfly on my left ankle (outer) which are actually two separate tats, inked six years apart. They look like one tat though.

Vincent Valentine's initials on my right ankle (outer), which I got in honor of my first anime convention and first cosplay.

Phoenix on my lower left back.

Japanese kanji for "peace" on my upper right arm.

A tyet (symbol of Isis) on my upper left arm. This one is eventually going to be surrounded by a Hawaiian lei.

My next tattoo is going to be of a triscele. It's an Irish symbol. I have a lot of Irish blood in me, so I thought it was kind of appropriate. It's going to be about the size of a baseball and it looks like this:

I don't want to get it anywhere on my back for two reasons. One, the phoenix on my back hurt worse than all my other tats combined. And two, I agree with Leland that it's hard to enjoy tattoos if you can't see them.

My mother suggested one of my forearms but I'm scared of how much that would hurt because if I got it on my forearm it would be the inner forearm and not the outer.

I'm half-thinking of getting in on the inner part of my left ankle but I don't know.

I like to get tats where I can show them off if I want, so my upper legs or hips are kind of out of the question. I don't want to get it anywhere that might stretch when I have kids.

So keeping all that in mind, where do YOU think I should get my next tat?
