Well I always wanted to adopt a cat from the SPCA, so when I got the chance, I took it. I couldn't be happier!
I'm happy to hear that Silas is a rescue. Hermione was thrown out of a car in my local park when I was taking a walk! I'm so glad I was there when it happened, I don't even want to think about what would have happened to her otherwise!! Anyway, it is funny how names just come to you. I was having trouble naming Hermione and then it just dawned on me to call her Hermione after Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.
It really suits him too. I was going through tons of names for a black cat before I got him (I adopted him from the SPCA and picked him out/signed the papers a week before I was able to take him home) and none of them seemed to fit. Then as I was falling asleep one night, the name Silas just popped into my head. I hadn't even been thinking about The DaVinci Code either!
